The way Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli were batting in the ongoing England vs India Test at Trent Bridge, only something special could have ended that partnership. And well, the moment of brilliance was provided by none other than Alastair Cook.

The former England skipper took a n absolute stunner in the slip cordon to dismiss Rahane and end his mammoth stand with Kohli.

Rahane had joined Kohli in the middle at the start of the second session. At that time, India were reeling at 82 for 3. Another wicket would have surely put England in firm command of the proceedings. However, the duo did not let England make further inroads in the game as they went on to score fluent fifties. By the time the second session ended, the scoreboard was reading 189 for 3.

The duo started the last session in the same manner, rotating the strike at will. It looked like England would have to toil hard for another session before Cook delivered an absolute moment of magic. On the final ball of the 67th over, Stuart Broad bowled a fuller deliver outside off. Rahane went for an ambitious drive and ended up edging the ball.

But it still looked the ball would pass through Cook at first slip and Jonny Bairstow. The wicketkeeper did not go for the catch but Cook attempted. He initially went with both hands. But the ball was wide of him and it stuck into his left palm. Rahane scored 81 and added 159 runs with his skipper.

Here is a clip of that stunner from Cook:
