In what can be called yet another brain-fade moment that is bound to bring the memories of the infamous DRS incident of the Bengaluru Test against Australia earlier this year, Dilruwan Perera has created a big controversy by reviewing an umpiring decision during the ongoing first Test at the Eden Gardens in an unusual manner.

The controversial moment took place on the final ball of the 57th over when Perera was given out after Mohammed Shami‘s delivery hit him on the back-pad, in front of off-stump. And as soon as the batsman turned back to walk towards the pavilion, he once again turned back and reviewed the decision. What was even more baffling that even his partner Rangana Herath had his back towards him, so there was no question of Herath prompting him to review the decision.

Later replays showed that one or two hands went up from the dressing room of Sri Lanka and immediately Perera reviewed. The decision then went in his favour as the impact was outside off.

A similar incident had taken place during the Test against Australia too when Steve Smith had sought inputs from the dressing room to review a decision. But unlike this latest incident, Smith was caught red-handed by his Indian counterpart Virat Kohli.
