In what can be called as an absolute bizarre and unacceptable incident, Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) office-bearers engaged in an ugly fist fight during the state cricket body’s annual general meeting on Sunday. The video of the same has been going viral all over the internet as the DDCA has made it to the news for all the wrong reasons yet another time

A number of fans and former players have now called on BCCI President Sourav Ganguly to look into the matter and take strict action. During the meeting, punches were thrown at each other by the dignitaries as the audience watched on in absolute shock.

In the video, DDCA joint-secretary Rajan Manchanda can be seen as being involved in fighting with other office-bearers of the governing body. According to media reports, the fight erupted after the members couldn’t agree on a particular agenda which was passed without unanimity. But the main reason behind the fight is still not clear.

But the official statement released by the DDCA after the end of the meeting pretty much makes it clear that the reason was the disagreement between the members on a particular agenda. DDCA stated that all the members unanimously “passed the resolutions and agendas” but reports suggest otherwise.

Later, the official Twitter handle of DDCA posted a ‘thank you’ message on behalf of the Board of Directors of the governing body but didn’t even mention the earlier scuffle.

“Thank you members. The Board of Directors of the DDCA extends its sincere gratitude and thanks all its esteemed members for having attended the AGM of the Company on a chilly and cold Sunday morning and having extended their wholehearted support and backing the Board’s vision and endeavour to take the Company to greater heights. Warmest regards” read the official post.

Here is a clip of that unbelievable scuffle among the members:

Former cricketer Madan Lal was one of the many cricketers who reacted to the horrible turn of events. He asked BCCI and Ganguly to intervene in the matter and take strict action.

“Delhi cricket mecca and producer of so many players who represent India .. A big shame for DDCA who run this game !!! Time for the BCCI to take strict action and change the scene of Delhi cricket,” Madan Lal wrote on Twitter.
