England started turning the first Test on its head after claiming three wickets in the second session of day two against India in Nottingham. Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane was the latest casualty for India as he perished to an incredible direct hit from Jonny Bairstow at point. India slid from 97-0 to 112-4 in the space of a few overs.

The dismissal occurred in the 44th over when Ajinkya Rahane looked a bit jittery at the crease. KL Rahul, batting well at the striker’s end, edged one to point and did not call for a run. However, Ajinkya Rahane travelled quite far from his end and committed a bit too much. Jonny Bairstow picked the ball and affected a direct throw, finding Rahane short.

The umpire did not hesitate to raise the finger either, forcing the veteran to depart for five after facing as many balls. James Anderson breathed fire after lunch, getting Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara in successive deliveries in the third over following the break. Kohli notably perished for a golden duck, while Pujara could not make a significant score either. Anderson’s two wickets so far also put him at par with Anil Kumble’s 619 Test wickets.

Meanwhile, below is the clip of Ajinkya Rahane’s dismissal:
