There is absolutely no stopping KL Rahul at the moment. No matter what the format is or where he bats, he just cannot stop scoring. After opening the innings in all the five T20Is against New Zealand, he was demoted to number five in the ongoing first ODI against the same opposition.

The right-handed batsman was expected to open the innings after Rohit Sharma joined Shikhar Dhawan on the sidelines with injury. But the team-management sprung a big surprise by asking Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw to open the innings. It was a baffling decision since KL Rahul was in stunning form while opening the innings.

In the T20I series against the Black Caps, he scored two fifties while his scores in the other three games read – 27, 39 and 45. But the demotion did not make any difference as he excelled in his new role too. Asked to play the role of the finisher, he did his job to perfection.

The in-form star slammed 88 from just 64 balls, helping India pile up a mammoth total of 347 for 4 in the allotted 50 overs. His knock was studded with three fours and six sixes.

The reverse-sweep six:

While KL Rahul hit six sixes, the best of the lot was the one he hit off Jimmy Neesham on the final ball of the 49th over. Not even in his wildest of dreams Neesham would have expected that his delivery which was nearly a yorker would be hit for a six behind the stumps.

But KL Rahul is in such a form that anything is possible. The ball was just outside the off-stump and KL Rahul sat down on his knees before reverse hitting the ball for a huge six over short third man.

Here is a clip of that six from KL Rahul:
