Lungi Ngidi celebrating his South Africa teammate Quinton de Kock’s dismissal during the game between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians is what IPL is all about. The friendship between national team players take the back seat when they lock horns against each other in the IPL.

But even by that standard, Lungi Ngidi’s celebration was a bit unexpected as the South Africa star celebrated in an animated manner after the departure of his compatriot. The reason behind it could be the fact that he was taken to the cleaners by de Kock in his very first over.

In the third over of Mumbai Indians’ innings., Lungi Ngidi went for 18 runs with de Kock slamming him for three fours. But in the sixth over, Sam Curran managed to stop the wicketkeeper-batsman by making him miscue one straight to Shane Watson at midwicket.

And as soon as Watson took the catch, Lungi Ngidi let his emotions out. The right-arm pacer gave a mighty roar as he celebrated the Mumbai Indians’ opener’s dismissal. Before his dismissal, de Kock scored 33 runs off 20 balls with the help of five fours.

Lungi Ngidi later made a good comeback and ended the innings as CSK’s most successful bowler. In his last three overs, he conceded only 20 runs while picking up three crucial wickets, thus helping CSK restrict the defending champions to 162 for 9 after they had started on a strong note.

In reply, CSK recovered from 6 for 2 to chase down the total with four balls remaining thanks to impressive knocks from Ambati Rayudu and Faf du Plessis. Rayudu scored 71 while du Plessis remained unbeaten on 58 as the duo shared a match-winning stand of 115 runs.
