England leg-spinner Matt Parkinson produced a dream delivery during the third and final One-day International against Pakistan at Edgbaston, one that would have made even the great Shane Warne extremely proud.
It all happened during the 5th delivery of the 26th over when Parkinson tossed the ball up on and around off stump to entice opener Imam-ul-Haq to lunge forward.
The delivery had pace and sharp turn and it bamboozled Imam no ends as it beat the inside edge of his bat to knock over his middle-stump.
Imam was bamboozled, the crowd was shocked and Matt Parkinson was absolutely delighted (and why wouldn’t he?) as he produced one of the dream deliveries, one that not only him but everyone who watched It, will always remember for a long time.
That said, post the dismissal, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and stumper Mohammad Rizwan took matters into their own hands as they carted the English bowling attack including Matt Parkinson to help the visitors post 9/331 in 50 overs.
The duo racked up a 179-run-stand for the 3rd wicket with Babar smashing his highest ODI score of 158 besides becoming the first Pakistan captain to score a 150 in 50-over cricket.
Rizwan, on the other hand, scored a belligerent 58-ball 74.
However, all the efforts of Babar and Rizwan went in vain as a maiden hundred by James Vince (102 off 95 balls) and a 69-ball 77 from Lewis Gregory helped England to chase down 331 in the 48th over and inflict a 3-0 whitewash on a full-strength Pakistan unit.
