Australia have once again taken a driver’s seat in the third and the final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground. They have posted 454 runs in the first innings banking on Marnus Labuschagne’s double century. However, Australia will be worried about Matthew Wade copping a nasty blow on the head.

The incident occurred in the second last over of the day’s play, with the Aussies trying to nab their first wicket of the innings and slow a strong opening partnership between Kiwis Tom Latham and Tom Blundell. Fielding in close at silly mid-off, Wade was hit heavily in the back of the helmet, when Latham attempted a sweep shot off the bowling of Nathan Lyon.

Matthew Wade cops a nasty blow

Standing a mere 3 metres from Latham, Wade let out a scream as the ball collected him and immediately hit the deck. Latham instantly rushed to Wade’s assistance to see if his opponent was okay, with a number of Australia teammates also running to check on their injured teammate. The Aussie trainer was quick to attend Matthew Wade and was later cleared of the concussion test.
He is likely to undergo concussion test once again on Sunday morning before the host taking a final call on his further participation in the game.
