The duo of Mohammed Shami (56* off 70 balls) and Jasprit Bumrah (34* off 64) were greeted with a standing ovation by the entire Indian team as they made their way into the dressing room at the Lunch break.

And, they deserve it to the hilt, don’t they? Shami and Bumrah had come together after India had lost both their overnight batsmen in Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma within the first half an hour.

The lead was 182 and one felt that England was just moments away from wrapping up the innings.

However, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah had different ideas.

England opened the field up and resorted to short-pitch stuff against Bumrah in a response to what the Indian pacer had done to James Anderson.

Mark Wood eventually hit Bumrah on his helmet but it was the Indian duo that had the last laugh as they ended up stitching priceless 89 runs for the 10th wicket.

While Bumrah showed his defense apart from unleashing some brilliant drives, Mohammed Shami looked imperious in his strokeplay, especially against Moeen Ali.

Mohammed Shami dished out a gorgeous cover drive off Ali before taking the off-spinner downtown for a monstrous six to bring up his 2nd Test fifty.

Shami and Bumrah stayed unbeaten at the Lunch break and were eventually greeted to thunderous applause from the entire Indian team as they entered the change room.

“A partnership to remember for ages for @Jaspritbumrah93 & @MdShami11 on the field and a rousing welcome back to the dressing room from #TeamIndia. What a moment this at Lord’s ???” wrote BCCI’s Twitter handle.

Meanwhile, India eventually declared their innings on 8-298, setting England a target of 272 in 60 overs.
