Watch: Morne Morkel Takes A Stunner To Dismiss Parthiv Patel

If catches win matches then South Africa is surely on its way of winning the ongoing second Test against India after Morne Morkel pulled off a blinder on the final day of the game to put the visitors firmly on the backfoot.

South Africa had finished day four in the driver’s seat after reducing India to 26 for 3 before Cheteshwar Pujara and Parthiv Patel helped the visitors to close the day on 35 for 3 in pursuit of 287. And the hosts did not have to wait long to make inroads in the game as Cheteshwar Pujara was run-out cheaply. The Proteas then further strengthened their grip on the game after Morne Morkel took a brilliant catch to dismiss Parthiv Patel and reduce India to  65 for 5. In fact, the catch was so unexpected that even the substitute players ran towards the boundary line to mob the lanky pacer.

Patel would have hoped for a boundary after hitting a good pull shot off Kagiso Rabada. However, Morkel ran towards his right from fine-leg and made a timely dive to catch the ball with both hands. The celebrations began soon as Morkel was mobbed by his teammates while the Indian dressing room was plummeted into further sadness.
