‘MS Dhoni has the fastest hands in East conjure’, says Harsha Bhogle. Well, those who have followed the game would instead agree than thinking twice about it. During the second ODI at the Bay Oval, Dhoni affected a stumping; which could get termed as ‘swift as lightning’ to dismiss New Zealand veteran batsman, Ross Taylor. Dhoni who had affected a million stumpings in his career didn’t seem to have slowed down. Even at 37, he produces something which amazes the cricketing globe now and then.

Dhoni runs the show at the Bay Oval

To start with, it was not MS’ only contribution in the game thus far. While playing in the first innings, the ex-India captain, scored 48 off 33 balls. Meanwhile, India batted first after winning the toss in the second ODI. As the visitors had won the first ODI at McLean Park, they didn’t change their XI. Rohit and Dhawan began the proceedings for India. Stitching together 154 runs for the first wicket, the pair had laid the foundation for a massive total on the board.

Though Virat Kohli and Rayudu came close on scoring their respective fifties, the duo didn’t accomplish the feat. However, it was a late strike from MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav which helped India cross the 300-run mark. Dhoni, meanwhile, has remained unbeaten in his past three innings; scoring two fifty-plus totals in Australia and now 48 in the second game.

Jadhav outfoxes Taylor; Dhoni completes the formalities

Kedar Jadhav has been the go-to-bowler for Virat Kohli in the ODIs. He is often termed as the man with the golden arm, given he provides India with a breakthrough at crucial junctures. Here at the Bay Oval, Jadhav first outfoxed Taylor with a flight; then Dhoni’s quick hands completed the formalities in no time.

Even before Ross could put his feet back in the crease, the bails were already dislaunched. More importantly, Taylor’s wicket assured India of nearing their second win in the five-match ODI series.
