Rohit Sharma‘s love affair with the Eden Gardens did not last long in the ongoing second One-Day International against Australia. The right-handed batsman, who had played the historic knock of 264 against Sri Lanka in the very same ground, began cautiously and even played a beautiful cover drive before returning to the pavilion. However, his innings came to an early end after he mistimed his drive.

The in-form opener, who had also failed to score big in the series-opener at Chennai, was batting on 7 off 13 when Nathan Coulter-Nile came to bowl the sixth over. The Australia pacer, who had rocked India’s top-order in the last game, bowled a full delivery, inviting Rohit for the drive. However, the India opener was perhaps a bit late for the shot and as a result, the ball, after being hit by the toe-end, ballooned towards Coulter-Nile. The bowler, meanwhile, still had to do a lot to convert the chance into a wicket as he popped it on the first attempt.

But on the second attempt,  he regained his composure and reacted well to pouch the ball and end Rohit’s romance with the Eden Gardens.

Here is the clip of that dismissal:
