Rohit Sharma might have become one of the most sought-after batsmen in world right now but he knows all about criticism. The India star had a very tough start to his international career. He struggled for more than five years to become a regular in the team. While he was always hailed as a talented cricketer, he faced criticism every now and then for his temperament.
But things changed for him when the team-management asked him to open the innings in ODIs and T20Is. The decision turned out to be a masterstroke and Rohit Sharma has exceeded all the expectations. He is the only player in the world with three double centuries in ODIs and four centuries in T20Is.
But unlike his limited-overs career, his Test career was not on the right track before the team-management once again decided to try him out as an opener. And Rohit Sharma has started his career as a Test opener in a blistering manner. In his maiden Test as an opener in Vizag, he scored century in both the innings against South Africa.

The right-hander was out cheaply in the second Test before bouncing back in the ongoing third game in Ranchi. Rohit Sharma scored his first double century in Test to put India on the front-foot. His knock helped India recover from 39 for 3 to post a mammoth 497 for 9 (declared). In reply, South Africa were 9 for 2 before bad light brought an end to the day.
At the end of the day, Rohit Sharma looked at his jovial best while he was interacting with the media. The India star loves to be sarcastic with the media and showed it once again as he took a cheeky jibe at the media for their knack of criticising players’ failures.
“Whenever you get an opportunity, you want to make the most of it. You want to perform as well as possible. When I got this opportunity to bat at the top of the order, I wanted to make full use of it. Otherwise so many things would have happened. You guys would’ve written a lot about me,” said Rohit Sharma with a smile on his face.
