Watch: Sarfraz Ahmed Fails Miserably As He Tries To Copy MS Dhoni
With the fate of the game already decided, Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed tried to something unusual in the fifth and final ODI against Zimbabwe on Sunday. The keeper-batsman tried to copy his India counterpart Mahendra Singh Dhoni when he ditched his wicketkeeping gloves and tried to roll his arms.
The incident happened in 48th over of Zimbabwe???s innings. Sarfraz asked Fakhar Zaman to don the wicketkeeping gloves as he went out to check how would he fare as a bowler. Well, the start was promising. He conceded only 6 runs in his first over. However, it did not take long for him to realise that sticking to wicketkeeping gloves is the best option for him in the game. He bowled the last over of the innings and was take to cleaners by Peter Moor.
On the first ball of the over, Moor launched Sarfraz for a huge six over the midwicket region. The Pakistan skipper ended his 2 overs by conceding 15 runs.
Here is a clip of that shot:
Meanwhile, Sarfraz became only the 3rd keeper-captain to bowl in an ODI game. He joined an elite list involving Tatenda Taibu and MS Dhoni who bowled while playing as keeper and captain of their team in this format. Sarfraz is also the first Pakistan player and the 6th player overall to bowl in ODI format while playing as a wicket-keeper.
Unlike Sarfraz, Dhoni tasted success when he came out to bowl for the first and only time till date in ODIs. He had bowled two overs against West Indies in the ICC Champions Trophy match in 2009 and managed to dismiss Travis Dowlin.
As far as the result of the game is concerned, Pakistan registered yet another heavy win to complete a five-nil whitewash.
Batting first, the Men in Green once again put up a solid performance. Their in-form openers ??? Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq laid the foundation for a big total by adding 168 runs for the first wicket. Liam Roche broke the stand by dismissing Fakhar for 85 runs. Imam and Babar then scored centuries to help Pakistan put up 364 for 4. In reply, Zimbabwe never looked in contention to chase down the big total. The hosts, however, managed to come up with a promising batting display, scoring 233 for 4.
