Watch: Shikhar Dhawan Pokes Fun At Rishabh Pant After KL Rahul Impresses As Wicketkeeper

Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul starred with the bat on Friday as India beat Australia by 36 runs in the second ODI to keep the three-match series alive. Before the start of the series, there were discussions all around that one of the two would have to seat out from the playing eleven. However, the team-management has backed both of them and neither of the two has disappointed.

In the series-opener, Shikhar Dhawan scored 74 while Rahul scored 47 although they could not stop Australia from winning the match by ten wickets. In the second game, Shikhar Dhawan once again top-scored for the team, scoring 96 while KL Rahul scored 80 off just 52 balls. It would not be very wrong to say that Rahul’s innings eventually made the difference in the game.

India were 280 for 4 in 44 overs when Virat Kohli departed and soon lost Manish Pandey too. All eyes were on KL Rahul who was on a 44 off 34 then and the Karnataka star did not disappoint. He took the Australian bowlers to the cleaners as India amassed 93 runs from the last ten overs and ended up on 340 for 6.

In reply, Australia lost their in-form opener David Warner cheaply before Aaron Finch and Steve Smith shared a fifty-plus stand. At 220 for 3 in the 38th over with Smith well set in the middle, the match was heading towards a thrilling finish before Kuldeep dismissed Alex Carey and the former Australia captain to put India on top. Australia were eventually all out for 304.

Fun moment:

After the game ended, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul interviewed each other. And during that interview, Dhawan could not help but had some fun at the expense of his younger teammate Rishabh Pant who missed the second half of the first ODI as well as the second game after suffering a concussion. In his absence, KL Rahul did the wicketkeeping duties and impressed in the second game.

And as Dhawan was speaking to Rahul, he hilariously trolled Rishabh Pant. The star opener stated that after seeing Rahul’s wicketkeeping, Rishabh Pant would do his customary backflip and say that he is totally fit.
