Facing a 140kph inswinging yorker is nothing less than a nightmare for a batsman who is still new to the crease, and Papua New Guinea’s Heagi Toua came up against the thunderbolt when he was yet to open the account after facing seven balls in the just-concluded ICC U-19 World Cup against India.

Sent in to bat first, Papua New Guinea were off to a poor start and were 26 for one before Shivam Mavi shattered Toua’s stumps with a peach of a delivery to dent the opposition further. It was a perfect yorker from India’s pace spearhead, as Toua could not even get his bat down when the ball left him before sending his leg stump for a toss.

Here is a clip of that stunning delivery:

Mavi had impressed with his bowling in the last game against Australia too. Along with Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Mavi consistently clocked over 140kph. Mavi’s fastest delivery was just a shade slower at 146kph which impressed former India skipper Sourav Ganguly so much that he went on to tweet, tagging Virat Kohli and VVS Laxman,

“@imVkohli @VVSLaxman281 @BCCI keep an eye on two under 19quicks ..Mavi and Nagarkotti ..bowling at 145 inNewzealandd ..brilliant ..”

Meanwhile, India thrashed Papua New Guinea by ten wickets to extend their red-hot form in the tournament. Fresh from the 100-run win over Australia in the opener, India bowled out PNG for just 64 runs. Anukul Roy starred with the ball, taking five for a mere 14 before Prithvi Shaw scored 57 off 39 balls to help India chase down the total inside eight overs.
