The last time Rajasthan Royals had taken on Royal Challengers Bangalore this season with both the teams in search of their first wins, it was leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal who had made the difference for the Royals. The Karnataka star had bamboozled the batsmen with his googlies, claiming three wickets including that of Virat Kohli (23) and AB de Villiers (13). He had conceded  just 12 runs in his four-quota over to unsettle Royal Challengers as Royals had registered their first win.

Not surprisingly all eyes were on Shreyas Gopal when Royals took on Royal Challengers Bangalore again on Tuesday. The game started late due to rain but it did not affect Gopal as he destroyed Royal Challengers’ top-order.  Royal Challengers started brightly with their openers Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers slamming 23 runs in the first over of the game that was reduced to 5 over per side. But in the very next over, Gopal put the Royals on top by taking a sensational hat-trick.

After being hit for a six, four and two by Kohli on the first three deliveries, Gopal dismissed the Royal Challengers skipper, de Villiers and Marcus Stoinis in the next three balls to leave the Royal Challengers reeling at 35 for 3. In the process, he also became the fourth bowler from Royals to pick up a hat-trick in IPL. He also became the second player this season after Sam Curran to pick up a hattrick. Overall, 19 players have taken a hattrick in IPL so far.

Meanwhile, this was the third time Gopal accounted for Kohli while it was the fourth time he dismissed de Villiers. Royals, meanwhile, will be looking to keep their playoff hopes alive with a win. With 5 wins from 12 games, the Royals cannot afford another slip up.
