MS Dhoni is celebrating his 39th birthday today and as expected, he has been bombarded with hundreds of thousands of birthday messages. Fans and cricketers across the country wished the legendary cricketer on his special day. The cricket fraternity paid glowing tribute to the modern-day legend.

Well, cricket anchor Jatin Sapru also did his bit and posted a brilliant clip of his interview with India batsman Suresh Raina in which the latter revealed an incident involving MS Dhoni. The former India skipper is known for his street smartness and Raina’s story once again proves it.

Raina, who shares a very strong friendship with MS Dhoni, revealed his teammate’s surprising tactics to upset pacer Tino Best’s line and length during an ODI between India and West Indies. Raina revealed how MS Dhoni was paddle sweeping Best’s 150 kmph deliveries and eventually succeeded in upsetting the former bowler’s line and length, saying:

“Dhoni bhai ne Tino Best ko maara tha ek paddle sweep. Maine kaha ‘Dhoni bhai 150kmph daal raha hai’. Unhone bola ‘Usko chiddha raha hun main abhi, yeh mujhe aur dega maarne ke liyee’. Phir uski line hi kharab hogayi. 4 over mein uske chaalis pad gaye.” (It roughly translates to: “Dhoni bhai had paddle swept Tino Best. I told him ‘bhai he is bowling at 150 kmph’. He told me ‘I am teasing him, he will give me more lose deliveries’. He (Best) lost his length and conceded 40 in 4 overs”).

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni last played a competitive game in July last year during the World Cup semifinal and took a sabbatical after that. His sabbatical would have ended in this year’s IPL but the tournament has been suspended indefinitely due to the pandemic.
