Virat Kohli and his men gave India a stunning start in day-night Test as the hosts thrashed Bangladesh in the historic game. The world number one Test side beat the beleaguered hosts by an innings and 46 runs at the Eden Gardens to sweep the two-match series. The Test lasted for a little over two days as India stamped their authority once again.

Bangladesh were playing catch-up since India’s pacers ran riot with the pink ball in the first session of the first day. Bangladesh proved no match for India’s in-form pace trio and were all out for just 106. Ishant Sharma was the pick of the bowlers, picking up five wickets. Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami also made their marks by picking up three and two wickets respectively.

India, in reply, declared their innings on 347 for 9 thanks to a classy ton from Virat Kohli and fifties from Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane. Bangladesh failed to do well again with the bat in the second innings as they managed just 195. Umesh was the pick of the bowlers this time, picking up five wickets while Ishant picked up four.

Tests with white-ball?

Pink ball has been the talk of the town of late. And thus when Virat Kohli was addressing the media, he was bombarded with questions about the pink ball. One of the journalist came up with an interesting question, saying that a girl asked him why cannot the Tests be played with red-ball at day and white-ball at night.

Virat Kohli was all smiles after listening to the question and went on to answer the question, saying:

“You won’t be able to see the white ball as we wear Test whites. In the day if you can’t see the pink ball and in the night if you can’t see the white ball, then it will become a one-day Test instead of three days. Even we will get bowled out for 50-60.”
