Virat Kohli-led India came out all guns blazing with the bat in the third T20I to blow away West Indies and clinch the three-match series 2-1. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul gave the hosts a stunning start after West Indies asked them to bat first. The two fired on all cylinders right from the word go. India raced away to 50 in just 5.1 overs and were 72 for no loss at the end of the powerplay.

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul went on to add 135 runs for the first wicket before Kesrick Williams broke the stand by dismissing the former. Rohit scored 71 off 34 balls. Rishabh Pant, who was promoted to number three, failed to grab the opportunity and was out a two-ball duck. But West Indies could not capitalise on those two strikes as skipper Virat Kohli took their bowlers to the cleaners.

He scored a 21-ball fifty and shared a 98-run stand with Rahul who scored 91 as India posted a mammoth total of 240 for 3. In reply, West Indies finished their inning on 173 for 8 to suffer a crushing loss of 67 runs. Barring skipper Kieron Pollard, who blasted 69 off just 39 balls, the other batsmen failed to deliver on the big day.

West Indies were off to a disastrous start and were reeling at 17 for 3 before Pollard and Shimron Hetmyer stopped the rot by adding 74 runs. But they kept losing wickets at regular intervals which never allowed their innings to get the impetus required for the huge chase.

Kohli delighted for Rohit:

One of the best moments of the match was seen when Rohit Sharma reached his fifty. The entire Wankhede Stadium stood up to applaud the India batting star’s stunning knock. But the one man whose celebration caught everyone’s attention was none other than skipper Virat Kohli himself.

As soon as Rohit touched the 50-run mark, Virat Kohli stood up and celebrated his deputy’s fifty in a pumped up manner. Well, the celebration once again put the rumours of rift between the two on bed.

Here is a clip of that moment:
