Just a couple of days after a Karachi Kings member was seen talking on phone in the team dugout, Pakistan Super League (PSL) has landed in controversy once again. In the latest turn of events, England opener Jason Roy has accused Peshawar Zalmi fast bowler Wahab Riaz of ball-tampering in the ongoing season.
Not only that, Jason Roy also clashed with the left-arm pacer. Later, Sarfaraz Ahmed, the captain of Quetta Gladiators team whom Roy is representing in the league, confirmed that a clash had taken place between the two players. The incident took place during the 17th over of Gladiators’ innings.
“Roy asked Wahab whether he had made the ball properly to gain reverse swing. The Pakistani pacer reacted angrily and argued before Sarfaraz intervened to diffuse the situation,” a source said.
Quetta Gladiators had also mentioned about ball-tampering in their match report. The defending champions pointed out that the condition of the ball was changed although, they did not name anyone.
“They basically said in the report that the cricket board and match officials should keep a close watch on the condition of the ball,” the source added.
Sarfaraz said that his team had followed the protocol. At the same time, the former Pakistan captain insisted that the incident should not be blown out of proportion.
“Look these things happen in cricket when there is intense competition between the players,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jason Roy and Wahab Riaz were seen having a go at each other after the end of Gladiators’ innings. As the players were making their way to the dressing room, Wahab Riaz walked up to Jason Roy and was seen saying something to him in an animated manner. The England did not remain quiet either and was seen saying something in the direction of Wahab Riaz who was pulled away by his teammates.
Here is the clip showing both the players having a go at each other after the end of the innings:
