Team India have made a great start to day three of the second Test against South Africa in Pune claiming two early wickets. After Mohammed Shami got Anrich Nortje out, Wriddhiman Saha grabbed a diving catch to dismiss the set Theunis de Bruyn off Umesh Yadav.

The visitors resumed at 36 for three with de Bruyn and nightwatchman Nortje in the crease trailing by 565 runs. Shami, who bowled brilliantly in the last session, made an immediate effect removing the nightwatchman in the second over of the day.

With skipper Faf du Plessis by his side, Theunis de Bruyn looked composed and played some delightful shots. After failing to put runs in the first Test, the South African batter would have been desperate to put runs on the board to stake claim for his place in the playing XI. But an outstanding diving catch from Wriddhiman Saha put curtains on his innings.

Umesh Yadav bowled a back of a length delivery outside the off-stump and held its line. It was a tad too close to playing the back-foot punch and Theunis de Bruyn couldn’t resist and went hard at the shot, gets a thick edge. Wriddhiman Saha does the rest, diving across to his right and snaffling it in front of the first slip fielder.

South Africa are in dire trouble reeling at 53 for five. The onus will now be on skipper Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock to build a massive partnership and bail their side from danger.
