The India-Bangladesh cricket rivalry has turned bitter in recent times. From morphing pictures of Indian players to on-field antics, the Bangladeshi side had rarely left an opportunity to rile up the Indian camp.

However, on Wednesday (March 14), Yuzvendra Chahal showed the way forward with a heartwarming gesture.

After the first ball of the 18th over in the fifth game of the Nidahas Trophy, Chahal left behind the on-field rivalry and showed a surprising act of sportsmanship.

Before facing the next delivery, Mushfiqur Rahim, not a popular figure among the Indian fans, noticed his shoe lace was untied. Chahal then came to his rescue, leaning down to tie the laces before the Bangladesh star patted the Indian spinner on his back.

Here is a clip showing the exemplary gesture from Yuzvendra Chahal:

India storms into final:

Coming to the game, India beat Bangladesh by 17 runs to make it to the final of the Nidahas Trophy. Sent in to bat first, India scored 176 for three in the allotted 20 overs.

India were off to a good start, as Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit added 70 runs for the first wicket. The stand was broken when Rubel Hossain accounted for Dhawan for 35 in the tenth over.

Rohit and Suresh Raina then guided India to a big total with a 102-run stand. Sharma top-scored for India, scoring 89 off 61 while Raina scored 47 off 30.

In reply, Bangladesh were off to a disastrous start. The chase was pretty much derailed when Washington Sundar’s early burst had them reeling at 40 for three.

However, a 61-run stand between Mushfiqur Rahim and Sabbir Rahman revived Bangladesh’s hopes. But India eventually managed to restrict the Tigers to 159 for six and win the game by 17 runs.
