Indian cricketer KL Rahul further cemented his place in the side by piling up big runs in the recently concluded T20I series against New Zealand. The Karnataka-born cricketer amassed 224 runs at a stunning average of 56. He capped the memorable series with a steady 45, providing a solid start for the team yet again.

Rahul added another feather to his cap by being the ‘acting captain’ after Rohit Sharma was sidelined due to a calf injury. The elegant batter is also bestowed with the task of keeping the wickets. And so far, he has done a commendable job. Meanwhile, Rahul said that watching Kane Williamson bat is a treat to the eyes. The Kiwi skipper played a few good hands before being ruled from the last two games due to an injury.

“It’s a treat to watch him bat. It’s a treat to watch but hopefully, in the next 3 ODIs, we don’t want to be treated to Kane’s innings. Hopefully, he can save it not even for IPL because he is against me. Any other series is fine,” said Rahul post the match.

I learnt a lot from Williamson: KL Rahul

He also went on to say that during their time with the Hyderabad franchise in the IPL, Rahul used to talk to Williamson on batting. The 27-year-old added that he has learned a lot watching Williamson bat.

“I have spent a lot of time with Kane during 2014, 2015 when I was with Sunrisers and he was with Sunrisers. I spent a lot of time talking to him about batting. I thought we have similar styles of batting, I learnt a lot by watching him bat”.

The Blackcaps’ skipper has been under-fire due to the team’s hapless performance against India at home. The hosts were handed a 5-0 whitewash by Virat Kohli’s men. The sides will now move on to the 3-match ODI series as New Zealand look to change their fortunes.
