Going into IPL 2019, Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore was a strong force and was the team to defeat. From Virat Kohli to AB de Villiers to Colin de Grandhomme, RCB have a bucketful of stalwart players who can turn the game in team’s favour at any point.

On paper, RCB is one of the best teams but on the field, the team has had contrary results till now.

In three matches that RCB have played so far, they have lost all the three contests and are currently paced at the last position in the points table.

In their previous game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, they touched a new low as RCB lost to hosts by 118 runs.

It was probably the worst defeat for RCB that would have had a big impact on the team’s members.

AB de Villiers, in his column of Times of India, revealed how he and Kohli felt when the team was returning to the team hotel after the defeat at the hands of SRH.

“It just so happened that Virat Kohli and I were sitting beside each other on the RCB bus back to the hotel after our emphatic defeat against Sunrisers in Hyderabad. He looked at me. I looked at him. There was nothing to say. This was not what we expected.”

Further, the veteran cricketer wrote that the team should be winning matches as the players have worked hard in the pre-season camp.

“We have been together as a squad for more than two weeks now, and we have worked exceptionally hard. Our preparation has been excellent, and the team feels balanced. No question, we should be winning matches. And yet, we are not winning.”

While there are many factors that have seen RCB perform poorly, bowling is the weakest link in the team.

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir also talked about it and said that bowling is to be blamed for  RCB’s poor show for past few seasons.

Kohli and co now take on Rajasthan Royals in their next match in an away game.

There can be a few changes in the playing XI of RCB as Marcus Stoinis and Nathan Coulter-Nile are expected to walk into playing XI.

They have joined the team after completing their international commitments.

Also, Washington Sundar could also find himself in the playing XI and he might bowl in the powerplay as well.

Rajasthan Royals are also yet to register a win. They have ost three games so far.
