India opener Rohit Sharma has revealed a hilarious anecdote involving his batting partner Shikhar Dhawan. Both Rohit Sharma and Dhawan have been an indispensable part of the limited-overs team since opening for the first time in 2013 Champions Trophy.

At present, they are arguably the best opening pair in limited-overs cricket. Statistically, Rohit Sharma and Dhawan are way ahead of their contemporaries. Shikhar Dhawan-Rohit Sharma is the third most successful batting pair for India and eighth overall. So far, the two have added 4,847 runs in 109 innings including 16 century stands and 14 fifty-plus stands.

The anecdote:

The fine chemistry between Rohit Sharma and Dhawan was visible off the field too when the two along with Mayank Agarwal were interacting with each other in a video posted by the BCCI on its Twitter handle. The video is a snippet from the duo’s interview with Agarwal.

In the video Agarwal asks Dhawan to sing a song in Punjabi. In reply, Dhawan said that he doesn’t sing well and it is India skipper Virat Kohli who does a better job at singing Punjabi songs. He, however, went on to sing a few lines.

And as soon as he was done with singing, Rohit Sharma revealed the funny incident that took place on India’s tour of Bangladesh in 2015. India’s limited-overs vice-captain revealed how Dhawan had amazed Bangladesh star Tamim Iqbal with his singing.

“We were playing in Bangladesh in 2015 as I was standing in the first slip and Shikhar Dhawan was in the third slip. Suddenly he started singing very loudly. The bowler was already in his run up and the batsman, Tamim Iqbal, was left amazed. He didn’t understand where the noise was coming from,” said Rohit Sharma.

“It might not sound as funny right now but when it happened on the field we couldn’t control our laughter, it was really funny,” he added.
