World Cup 2019 is now all set to come to an end. After a thrilling action that lasted for a month-and-a-half, the cricketing world will see a new world champion. Hosts England will take on New Zealand in the final at the iconic Lord’s in London. This is the fifth time the Lord’s is hosting a World Cup final and first since 1999.

Both England and New Zealand will have a chance to create history when they take on each other. Neither of the two teams have has won the most coveted title of the game even once. While England have lost three World Cup finals thus far, New Zealand have lost one. Both the teams have had a bumpy ride to the final.

England were in all sorts of trouble during the group stage and were even in danger of getting eliminated. However, they beat India and New Zealand in must-win clashes to storm into the semifinal. In the semifinal, England thrashed defending champions Australia to become the first team to beat Australia in a World Cup semifinal. After bowling out Australia for just 223, England chased down the total inside 33 overs to make it to the first final since 1992.

On the other hand, New Zealand had a mighty scare too. The Black Caps had started the tournament well before they lost their last three league games. Consequently, they and Pakistan finished on the same number of points. But fortunately, New Zealand progressed ahead due to better net run-rate. In the semifinal, the beat favourites India by 18 runs to storm into the final.

All the eyes are on the final now. Fortunately, there are no prediction of rain at all today. But then again the weather in England changes in a blink of an eye. Just like the semifinals, there is a reserve day for the final too. Thus if the game is washed out today, it will start tomorrow. The teams need to play at least 20-over per side match to force a result.

However, if no game is possible tomorrow, there will be not be one winner. Both the teams – England and New Zealand will walk away with the World Cup trophy.
