The Windies’ veteran pacer Kemar Roach five-wicket haul in the first innings of the first Test match against England has left the visitors in tatters. Roach scalped five wickets and gave away 17 runs only in his 11 overs. The fast bowler was right on the money with his line and length. Thus, he breathed down the neck of the visitor’s batsmen.

In fact, no England batsmen could get past the score of 17 runs. Windies skipper Jason Holder and Alzzari Joseph scalped two wickets each. Furthermore, Shannon Gabriel took one wicket.

Meanwhile, Windies had scored 289 runs in the first innings. Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer and Roston Chase scored fifties to help their side to reach a par score. The southpaw batsman Hetmyer continued his good form as he scored a crucial knock of 81 runs with the help of nine fours and two sixes

Windies were given a good start when their openers added an alliance of 53 runs. John Campbell and Kraigg Brathwaite scored 44 and 40 runs respectively. Meanwhile, James Anderson was at his best as the experienced bowler scalped five wickets whereas Ben Stokes took four wickets in the first essay.

On the other hand, England was able to take six wickets before the stumps were called on Day 2. Thus, the hosts lead by a gargantuan margin of 339 runs and have put their noses in front. Moeen Ali has taken three wickets whereas Ben Stokes took two wickets.

The tourists are staring down the barrel of the gun and an unexpected upset is on the cards. The hosts will like to add more to their lead to bat England out from the game. It would be an emphatic win for the Windies and it will do them a world of good.
