Well, sometimes, a little tweak in the technique could do a world of good for a sportsperson. Perhaps, this might be happening with Stuart Broad. The English fast bowler has got some advice from the former great Richard Hadley, which worked like a magic right in his first game. However, it won’t enter record books but can give a lot of confidence for the champion bowler.

The 32-year-old Broad took a gamble and sought out the advice of Hadlee, the New Zealand great who held the test wickets record after famously changing his runup late in his career to prolong his time at the bowling crease.

Richard Hadley advice worked:

Following the same, Stuart Broad also using the short run-up in order to deliver longer spells and also increase his survival in the international cricket.  The lanky fast bowler rattled the stumps of the number 9, 10 and 11 batsmen in three consecutive deliveries to bag a hat-trick.

After missing out the wicket on 4th ball, he sent back Blackwood in the fifth delivery of the same over to end up with a 4-wicket haul. Despite the superb effort, the 2-day warm-up game ended in a draw.

“The most important thing for me was the rhythm of my new, shorter run-up feeling good,” said Broad. In my second spell I tried to ramp up the intensity, and how I bowled in the afternoon was as good as I’ve felt in a long time.”

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the skipper Joe Root, James Anderson and Jack Leach will be rested for the final warm-up game. Jos Buttler will lead the side.
