Indian Test wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha has been asked by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to keep away from the Ranji Trophy. The board has taken this step in order to keep him away from injury. Saha, who represents Bengal in the Ranji Trophy, had a match to play against Delhi in the Ranji Trophy. Saha is still recovering from an injury that he suffered during a game against Bangladesh.

India is currently facing an issue for the first choice wicket-keeper in limited overs format. Rishabh Pant has been a regular starter for the men in blue but his performance has not been upto the standards. At such a crucial time, India will not like to lose its Test keeper. Saha has been the first choice wicket keeper for India in Test Cricket since MS Dhoni’s retirement in 2014.

Wriddhiman Saha Not To Play Ranji Cricket

Bengal coach Arun Lal has informed the media that Saha wont be available for selection. “Wriddhi will not be available for Delhi match (from Sunday). I think the Board (BCCI) has said no to him,” he said. Arun Lal has also emphasized that Saha’s absence won’t make much of a difference. Arun Lal said, “It’s great to have him but it will not make any difference. In any case we have got a winning side. It’s okay it would have been for just one game.”

India will travel to New Zealand for a tour that consists of two Test matches. Indian pace spearhead Ishant Sharma recently suffered an injury during a Ranji Trophy game against Vidarbha playing for Delhi. He is now out of the New Zealand tour. Hence, the board has now become conscious of its players getting injured.
