Former India batsman Yuvraj Singh and Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Abhishek Sharma were involved in a hilarious banter on Shubman Gill’s latest Instagram post after the latter played a match-winning against the Hyderabad-based outfit.
After failing to score big in Kolkata Knight Riders’ first game of the tournament, Shubman Gill starred with the bat against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The right-handed batsman held firm from one and scored an unbeaten fifty to take his side home. Chasing 144, the Knight Riders were in a spot of bother after being reduced to 53 for 3.
However, Shubman Gill held firm from his end and got a good partner in the form of Eoin Morgan. The due went on to share an unbeaten stand of 92 runs to take the side home. Shubman Gill reached his fifty off 42 deliveries and eventually remained unbeaten on 70.
His knock came off 62 balls and was studded with 5 fours and a couple of sixes. Morgan, on the other hand, scored 42 off 29 deliveries with the help of three fours and two sixes. The win was the first one for the Kolkata-based outfit this season after they started their campaign with a crushing loss at the hands of defending champions Mumbai Indians.
After the game ended, Shubman Gill took to Instagram to express his delight over the first win of the competition. But the comment section of the post soon became a banter ground. His Punjab teammate Abhishek Sharma was the one who started it.
Taking a cheeky dig at Shubman Gill, the SRH youngster wrote: “Bach gya tu iss vaar (which roughly translates to ‘you managed to save yourself this time’).
Abhishek was probably talking about the one over he bowled to Shubman Gill during the game in which the latter hit the spinner for a six. Yuvraj Singh, nonetheless, soon joined the fun and poked fun at Abhishek, writing:
“I think tu bach gaya is baar (which roughly translates to ‘I think you were the one who got away this time’)”. Abhishek was not done yet as he replied to the India legend, writing: “paji tuhaanu te yaad hee hai Sab kida out krda c mai (which roughly translates to ‘paaji, you know it very well I dismissed all of them’)”
