England veteran pacer James Anderson had the world on his feet when he reached 600 Test wickets on Tuesday against Pakistan. Following his achievement, former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh set a minimum target for his fellow countryman and seamer Jasprit Bumrah.

As Anderson breached the barrier, tweets poured from around the world, including from Yuvraj Singh and Bumrah. England won the three-match series against Pakistan as the third Test resulted in a draw.

On day five of the third and final Test against Pakistan in Southampton, James Anderson plucked the wicket of visiting captain Azhar Ali, breaking his 114-ball resistance. Anderson’s captain Joe Root took the catch at slip after three dropped chances on the previous day to hand his teammate the 600th Test scalp.

The Lancashire pace bowler became the first fast bowler to reach 600 Test wickets while all the other above him are spinners. Even at 38, he has vowed to keep playing for one more year.

Soon after Bumrah’s congratulatory tweet for the English pace spearhead, Yuvraj commented that the Indian seamer needs to at least breach past 400. The Ahmedabad-born bowler currently has 68 wickets in 14 Tests at 20.34 and with fitness and consistency, he can indeed reach 400 scalps.

Yuvraj Singh congratulated James Anderson as well writing on Twitter, “Never thought I’d see in my lifetime a fast bowler take 600 test wickets! It’s not just the quantity but the quality with which he has bowled – be it slow or fast wickets, bounce or no bounce, seam or no seam, for him conditions never mattered! Sir @jimmy9 you are the #GOAT.”
