ODI Series Defeat Against New Zealand Is Not Something Very Serious To Ponder About: Yuzvendra Chahal

India’s leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has come up with a shocking statement after Team India was whitewashed by the Kiwis in the three-match ODI series. The Black Caps won the third and final game of the series by five wickets to claim it 3-0. They became the first team in 31 years to clean sweep India in an ODI series.
The West Indies was the last team to clean sweep India in a three-match or more bilateral series in 1988.
For India, the defeat was rather humiliating. They were not able to outperform the Kiwis in any of the games and had a poor display of cricket on show.
Having won the T20 series 5-0, nobody thought that India will kneel down in the ODIs. New Zealand, in true terms, have taken revenge and will now look to dominate the visitors in the Tests.
Yuzvendra Chahal Gives A Shameless Statement
“Overall, if you see it is just the fourth or fifth series loss in the last 4-5 years. The other team is also here to play. You cannot win every match. We have won one series, lost the other, so it is not something too serious to ponder over,” Chahal said at the post-match press.
India played a poor brand of cricket in the first two games and continued their run in the third game too. Batting first, India lost Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal, and skipper Kohli pretty early.
If it had not been for the likes of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, they would have faced another batting collapse. But, Rahul and Iyer played gritty knocks to help India finish on a high with 296 on the board.
But, Indian bowlers, like the rest of the ODIs, seemed out of colour and could not defend such a challenging total. Shardul Thakur was the poorest of the lot.
One of world cricket’s deadliest pacers, Jasprit Bumrah is currently out of form and has failed to clinch a single wicket in a bilateral series for the first time since his ODI debut.
India will now take on the Kiwis in a two-match Test series, the first of which will start on February 21 in Wellington.
