Australia made a havoc of a comfortable win when they slipped from 129 for 2 to 139 for 5. The Aussies won by five wickets. However, they had to sweat hard for their win as the match went down to the wire. Consequently, Australia was able to top the points table. Aaron Finch led side will meet Pakistan in the final of the tri-series on Sunday

Thus, Zimbabwe could not secure any win in the series. However, the hosts would be proud of their performance against Australia as the tourists had to work hard for their win. Consequently, Zimbabwe would have received the shot in the arm by their performance.

The match went down to the last over.

The visitors were cruising at one stage but three quick wickets changed the course of the game. Maxwell scored 56 off 38 balls while Travis Head scored 48 off 42 balls.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe put up a target of 152 runs while batting first in the final league match of the series. The host’s opener Solomon Mire continued his good form in the series as the right-hander scored 63 off just 52 balls. Mire had scored a fine 94 against Pakistan yesterday.

Andrew Tye was once again among the wickets as the fast bowler took three scalps. In fact, Tye has taken three wickets in almost every match. Billy Stanlake and Jhye Richardson bagged two wickets each.

However, Australia’s skipper Aaron Finch could not repeat his previous match heroics against Zimbabwe. Once again the Australian middle order looked vulnerable. Glenn Maxwell was able to return to form as he scored a fifty. In fact, southpaw batsman Travis Head took his own time as he got 48 runs off 42 balls.

Marcus Stoinis and Ashton Agar were able to take Australia over the line as  Stoinis hit the winning runs.

Australia will take on the number one side Pakistan on Sunday at Harare Sports Club. Andrew Tye was given the Man of the Match award for taking three wickets.
