Zimbabwe South Africa Four-Day Test Match

Zimbabwe has included two uncapped players in their 15-member squad for the upcoming one-off four-day Test starting on Boxing day in South Africa.

The 21-year-old fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani and left-hand batsman Ryan Burl got included in the squad after performing consistently on the domestic circuit.

Muzarabani had represented Zimbabwe’s new provincial team Rising Stars in five first-class matches to take 18 wickets at an average of 18. He will join an attack that will be led by veteran Chris Mpofu and Kyle Jarvis, and backed up by Tendai Chatara, who played his last Test on November 2014.

On the other hand, Burl has played nine games for his country in the fifty-over format, but no Tests, and he averages more than 40 in first-class cricket. Burl is coming from a century and has scored nine half-centuries in the last 17 matches he had played.

The Graeme Cremer-led side is scheduled to reach South Africa on Thursday (December 14) and will face the Cricket South Africa Invitation XI in a day-night three-day warm-up game, starting on December 20 at Boland Park in Paarl.

The four-day Test, also a day-night affair, will be played at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth.
