Royal Challengers Bangalore have found their best team this year but it couldn’t last long as the tournament was suspended in the mid-way and now they will have to rebuild again. They have found a lot of match-winners in their squad and the Indian youngsters are looking to step up for the franchise which is a great sign.

However, the mega auction might pose them headaches again and they will have to be spot on with their selections. They surely would have analyzed the performances in the past and here are 5 former players Royal Challengers Bangalore should target in IPL 2022 auction.

Delhi Capitals have got a pretty good squad and it is going to be a big call for them to retain the youngster Avesh Khan. This might open up his opportunities for playing under the Indian skipper Virat Kohli where he started his IPL career in 2017. He was released after just one year and has been part of the Delhi franchise since that.

Avesh got his opportunity this year with Nortje and Rabada missing out early and he made full use of the chances by picking up wickets consistently and executing the yorkers to perfection. He was very economical and proved to be a great find in the year. He was second in the purple cap race and RCB should look to get him back.

Moeen Ali:

Moeen Ali was bagged up by the Chennai Super Kings for a hefty amount this year and he repaid the faith shown by playing some blistering innings at the top of the order and backed it up with some economical spells with the ball too. He was very valuable for the franchise this year.

Moeen Ali played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore from the 2018 edition to the 2020 edition, but he never showed his abilities which was witnessed this year. Moeen can be used as a floater in the side and if CSK doesn’t retain him, RCB should definitely go for the English all-rounder.

Chris Woakes:

Royal Challengers Bangalore might have a big dilemma while retaining Kyle Jamieson and they should be ready for picking up the Delhi Capitals all-rounder Chris Woakes. Woakes had played for the franchise in the 2018 edition and was released after that. He is one of the most underrated cricketers who gives everything on the field.

Woakes played three games in this IPL edition for the Delhi side and was very impressive at the powerplay as well as in the death overs. He showed a lot of maturity and picked up 5 wickets in IPL 2021. Woakes can be a really handy batsman at seven, and RCB should consider getting him back in the squad.

Manish Pandey:

Manish Pandey was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore from the 2008 to 2010 editions and he was the first Indian batsmen to score an IPL century. There have been no doubts over his talent, but his strike rate has come under scrutiny lately, and he will need to work on it.

Sunrisers dropped him from the playing XI after his slow knocks this season and it meant that they might be changing their plans from the Indian batsmen. RCB has been searching for an experienced Indian batter in the middle order, and Manish Pandey could be the best possible option for it.

Quinton De Kock:

With a lot of stars in the Mumbai Indians lineup, it is highly unlikely that Quinton de Kock might be retained in the squad and the wicket-keeper batsmen have lost a bit of form too. He was with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2018 edition and could form an excellent opening pair with Devdutt Padikkal.

De Kock’s addition will certainly strengthen the batting lineup of Royal Challengers Bangalore and it also provides a wicket-keeping option. He is one of the best batsmen going around in the world and does add a lot of value to the franchise. He will certainly be up for grabs in the IPL 2022 auction.
