The test series against England will be India’s first assignment after the loss in the World Test Championship final and this could be the last chance for the underperforming players too. India despite being a dominating team around the world in tests, hasn’t done particularly well in England and this will be the best time to correct the statement.

The senior players have to step up for the side in a crucial series and the England seam bowling attack is a tough one to face always. There will be a lot of opportunities waiting in the wings and here are 3 Indian players for whom this could be the last England tour.

3 Indian Players For Whom This Could Be The Last England Tour:

Cheteshwar Pujara:

Cheteshwar Pujara hasn’t been in the greatest of forms in the last two years after having a phenomenal tour of Australia in 2018 and he hasn’t scored a century in the last 18 tests which is very unlike him. Pujara is one of the important batsmen for India in tests as he grinds away the time and also he can play those long innings.

However, his technique was exposed in swinging conditions against New Zealand in the World Test Championship and he never could get going too. He showed some positive intent in the practice game against County Selected XI but couldn’t get the big score under his belt to be on the safer side. The likes of KL Rahul and Hanuma Vihari are fighting for a spot in the Indian team and Pujara will need a good series to save himself from getting dropped.

Wriddhiman Saha:

The veteran wicket-keeper batsman Wriddiman Saha is no longer the first choice option in the playing XI as Rishabh Pant has been in the form of his life. Saha is 36 years old at the moment and is highly unlikely to participate in the next tour to England with the age factor in question.

The right-hander hasn’t had the best numbers too in recent times with the bat and he has been out of the playing XI since the first test of the Australia tour in 2020. This could well be the last tour of England for Wridhhiman Saha and he will be looking to make an impact if he does get a chance in the playing XI.

Ishant Sharma:

The tall Indian pacer Ishant Sharma has been bowling really well but he does have a lot of fitness issues and he looked out of gas in the World Test Championship finals too. The seamer has been spearheading the pace attack for India for a while now and he is 32 years old at the moment.

Ishant will be crucial to India‘s plans in the five-match test series against England and he might not play all the tests with five games being a long game time without adequate rest. He has been playing test cricket since he has been 18 years old and there are chances of him retiring from international cricket within the next tour of England.
