IPL 2021 Schedule, Points Table, Date, Match List, Orange Cap, Venue, Team List, And All You Need To Know.

In this article, we give you details about the new IPL 2021 schedule, points table, match list, orange cap, new venue, and team list of the second leg of IPL 2021. The Indian Premier League 2021 took off this year on April 10 with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) taking on Mumbai Indians (MI) in the opening fixture.

After 29 breath-taking games of cricket, the 14th edition of IPL had to be postponed indefinitely due to a massive COVID-19 outbreak in multiple franchises. First up, players from Kolkata Knight Riders and support staff from Chennai Super Kings tested positive for COVID-19. The very next day, players from Delhi Capitals and SunRisers Hyderabad also tested positive for the coronavirus.

This forcefully led the BCCI to the suspension of the Indian Premier League midway. However, the good news is that the BCCI has now worked on reinitializing the league and the BCCI Vice-president has confirmed that the Indian Premier League 2021 will resume from September 19 and the final of IPL 2021 will take place on October 15.

IPL 2021 Schedule

The IPL 2021 schedule has been released by the BCCI in the month of July. The BCCI has informed that there will be 7 double headers (5 matches already played in India – total of 12 matches) with the first match starting at 3:30 PM IST (2:00 PM Gulf Standard Time). All evening matches will start at 7:30 PM IST (6:00 PM Gulf Standard Time). Notably, the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is also slated to take place from October 18 this year.

A lot of overseas players have already made themselves unavailable for the 2nd Leg of IPL 2021. It is clear that the remainder of Indian Premier League 2021 will take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) like last year.

Although the Indian Premier League 2021 got suspended because of the worsening COVID situation in the country, the BCCI stated that the plan to shift the remaining Indian Premier League 2021 to UAE is only because of the monsoon rains in India in the September-October window.

Here’s the complete IPL 2021 schedule:

IPL 2021 Orange Cap

The IPL 2021 Orange Cap race was also as ignited as the tournament itself in the first 29 games that were played. Batsmen once again stole the show this year with some breath-taking hitting all over the parks.

As IPL 2021 was postponed, Shikhar Dhawan had the IPL 2021 Orange Cap with 380 runs in the 8 games that he played for Delhi Capitals. KL Rahul was second on this list with 331 runs in 7 games for PBKS.

Jos Buttler was at the 7th spot with 254 runs in 7 matches, including that scintillating century against SunRisers Hyderabad. Rohit Sharma acquired the 8th spot with 250 runs in 7 games for Mumbai Indians.

The last two spots in the top 10 list of the Orange Cap were filled by Jonny Bairstow and Glenn Maxwell respectively who had scored 248 and 233 runs in the 7 matches they were a part of.

IPL 2021 Venue

The remainder of IPL 2021 has been shifted entirely to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). IPL 2020 also took place in the UAE last year and was a massive success. Players from all over the Globe have acknowledged that UAE has been the safest venue to continue cricket ever since the COVID-19 outbreak.

This has been a major reason behind UAE getting the hosting rights of various cricket franchise competitions. Recently, the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2021) also resumed in the UAE. Last year, IPL 2020 took place across three venues, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. This year, IPL 2021 might be a bit more centralized and all the remaining games of IPL 2021 can be staged at a single venue.

IPL 2021 Team List

A total of 8 teams were contesting in IPL 2021 this year. MS Dhoni took charge of the proceedings once again for Chennai Super Kings as they hunted their 4th IPL title.

Delhi Capitals was being led by Rishabh Pant, as their regular skipper, Shreyas Iyer, suffered a dislocated shoulder in the series against England, prior to this year’s IPL and was ruled out of the tournament. Now that Iyer is back, Pant will still be leading the side.

Eoin Morgan was once again given the responsibility of leading Kolkata Knight Riders after he took over the captaincy from Dinesh Karthik in IPL 2020 last year.

Mumbai Indians gave the baton to Rohit Sharma, the most successful captain in the history of IPL, to lead the side once again as they roared for their 6th IPL title. KL Rahul led the Punjab Kings and he led the side from the front, much like last year as he top-scored for the team.

Rajasthan Royals entrusted Sanju Samson with their captaincy choice after a massive turnaround in the team this year. Rajasthan had to deal with a lot of injury blows and their overseas contingent shrank with each day passing by.

Jofra Archer was ruled out of IPL 2021 even before the tournament began and Ben Stokes was ruled out due to an injury, right after the first game. Liam Livingstone flew back home citing bubble fatigue, leaving the Rajasthan-based franchise midway.

Royal Challengers Bangalore once again went ahead with Virat Kohli as the skipper of their side and Virat produced fantastic results for the team. For the first time in their IPL history, RCB won the opening four games on the trot in IPL 2021.

Their first defeat of the tournament came against Chennai Super Kings in their fifth match and when the tournament came to a halt, RCB were on the 3rd spot in the IPL 2021 points table.

SunRisers Hyderabad had one of the poorest starts to an IPL season this year as they lost 5 out of their opening 6 fixtures. After this, the SRH management took a harsh call by stripping David Warner off the captaincy before their 7th game of IPL 2021 and handing it over to Kane Williamson. Warner was even made to sit out in the game against the Rajasthan Royals, which received a lot of backlash from the fans.
