IPL 2022 Mega Auction: Franchise Wise One Big Name Who Might Be Released

It is all exciting about the IPL mega auction 2022 as things are getting lightened up and the franchises have started making all their permutations in retaining the players. The rules for the mega auction have been slightly altered alongside adding two more teams into the IPL.

Each team is allowed to retain four players which can be the combination of three Indians and one overseas player or two Indians and two overseas players. Here is franchise wise one big name which might be released for the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

IPL 2022 Mega Auction: Franchise Wise One Big Name Who Might Be Released:

Delhi Capitals –  Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan will be the most unlucky player as the veteran batsman is set to miss out with the first three preferences of Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Prithvi Shaw. Dhawan finished as the leading run-scorer of the tournament at the midway with 380 runs in 8 games for the Delhi Capitals and his outstanding form might still not be enough to be retained with the age factor preferring Prithvi Shaw over him.

Chennai Super Kings – Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina did not have the best of seasons in this IPL and he failed to impress after the half-century in the first match. Raina hasn’t played much professional cricket for a long time and he has looked out of socks in the IPL as well. With CSK likely to retain MS Dhoni, Jadeja, and Gaikwad as the Indian trio, Raina is unlikely to be retained. Raina managed to score just 123 runs from 7 games this season.

Royal Challengers Bangalore – Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal was one of the biggest names in the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad until the last season where he did not look at his best. He also failed to perform really well in the international stages as well and he managed to pick up 4 wickets in the 7 matches in the IPL 2021. With Kohli, Padikkal, and Siraj in the race, Chahal will be the one to miss out on retaining.

Mumbai Indians – Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav has been a prolific run-scorer in the IPL for the Mumbai Indians but however, might not be retained despite being an important part of the franchise. With Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah in the queue, it is unlikely that Suryakumar Yadav would be retained. He scored 173 runs from the 7 games that he played in this IPL season.

Rajasthan Royals – Chris Morris

Chris Morris had an excellent IPL 2021 season so far after being one of the most expensive players in the tournament and he picked up 14 wickets in the 7 matches he played this year. He also won two matches for the Rajasthan Royals with the bat single-handedly and proved to be an excellent buy. However, with Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, and Jofra Archer in the fray, it might be difficult to retain Morris.

Punjab Kings – Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle had a decent IPL last year but his age hasn’t been helping him and looks far from being fit for the next two years of IPL. Gayle scored 178 runs in 8 games this season and the big left-hander is still very effective in T20 cricket. However, with one overseas player set to be retained, Punjab might either go with Nicholas Pooran or Riley Meredith rather than the 41-year-old.

Kolkata Knight Riders – Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik is one of the best finishers in the IPL and he has some good experience in T20 cricket. Karthik played some good innings in the middle order for the Kolkata Knight Riders this season but Kolkata is more likely to retain just two Indian players which could be Shubman Gill and Varun Chakravarthy most probably. The veteran batsman still has some years of cricket but is highly unlikely to be retained by KKR.

Sunrisers Hyderabad – David Warner

David Warner is one of the best players in IPL with some staggering numbers on his side. However, he did not have the greatest of IPL seasons last year with 193 runs from 6 games and was sacked from captaincy with continuous loss of games. With Sunrisers Hyderabad opting for Williamson as captain, the other player automatically is set to be Rashid Khan, and hence Warner will have to miss out.
