IND vs AFG Match Preview:
India and Afghanistan will close their three-match T20I series with the third and final match on September 17, 2026, at 7:30 PM IST at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. India have already secured the series 2-0 after winning both opening matches, but Afghanistan still have a chance to end the campaign with a victory. Since all three matches take place at the same venue, both sides will enter the finale with familiar conditions and a clear understanding of the ground.
The second T20I on September 15 produced another commanding performance from India. After India chose to bowl, Afghanistan reached 159/8 in 20 overs, with Ibrahim Zadran scoring 37 off 33 balls, Darwish Rasooli adding 26 off 15, Mohammad Nabi making 20 off 14 and Rashid Khan striking 28 off 16. Nitish Kumar Reddy led India’s bowling with 3/24, while Arshdeep Singh claimed 2/35. India then chased the target in only 14.5 overs, reaching 163/3. Sanju Samson set the pace with a blistering 57 off 22 balls, including seven fours and four sixes, while Abhishek Sharma contributed 39 off 19 and Ishan Kishan remained unbeaten on 38 off 23. Rashid Khan took all three Indian wickets with figures of 3/36, but India still completed a seven-wicket victory.
With the series already secured, India can now use the final T20I to assess their squad depth while maintaining their winning momentum. Samson’s explosive innings and Abhishek’s aggressive contribution powered India to 82/0 in the first six overs, before Ishan and Tilak Varma completed the chase comfortably. Afghanistan, however, again failed to establish enough momentum during the powerplay, managing only 41 runs in the opening six overs, and their middle-order recovery could not produce a sufficiently challenging total. Rashid remains a significant threat after his three-wicket performance, but Afghanistan will require a substantially stronger batting display to prevent India from completing a clean sweep.
