Pakistan captain Babar Azam was fined by the Lahore Traffic police on Monday (September 25) after the cricket superstar drove around without a license as well as committing a lane violation offense.

According to a report in the Pakistani news outlet The International News, Babar Azam was fined Pakistani Rs2,000 earlier this month in Lahore’s Gulberg. The officials revealed that the cricket superstar was first stopped by them for a lane violation. And on further interrogation, the police officials found out that Babar Azam was driving without a license.

On the professional front, Babar Azam recently faced heavy criticism for his batting and captaincy performance in Asia Cup 2023. He also faced severe criticism for his captaincy.

Babar Azam eyes World Cup:

In the wake of the humiliating exit from Asia Cup 2023, there were calls from several quarters to sack Babar Azam as the captain. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have shown faith in the under-pressure batsman and have retained him as the captain for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023.

The Men in Green are definitely one of the contenders to win the ODI World Cup in India. The marquee event is scheduled to be played from October 5 to November 19 in India. Reigning champions England and New Zealand will be up against each other in the tournament opener at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. On the other hand, Pakistan will take on the Netherlands in Hyderabad on October 6 in their first game of the World Cup.

After a brief delay, the Pakistani contingent has also received the visa to travel to India for the World Cup. It will be Pakistan’s first visit to India since they participated in the 2016 T20 World Cup. Most of the players in the current Pakistan team have not played in India and will be eager to make their maiden visit to India special by doing well in the World Cup.
