Bangladesh will be eagerly waiting to witness their in-form batter Najmul Hossain Shanto’s performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Najmul has been in a very good form this year having scored 698 runs in 14 innings with an average of 49.86. He has scored two centuries and five half-centuries in 2023 as of now and will look forward to carrying this form in the World Cup and hopefully contributing towards the team’s success.

In a recent interview, Najmul Hossain Shanto talks about the challenges that this World Cup will set and how the team needs to be well-prepared as every match will be a high-intensity contest and every team will be looking to win and absorb the pressure. He also talked about his recent performances and the kind of form he is in.

What I feel is the biggest challenge in the World Cup is that we must be prepared because every game will be of high intensity and every team will want to win it and absorb the pressure and perform will be the key.”

“I feel that as far as adaptation is concerned for the World Cup, it is nearly complete for me, when I scored a hundred against Ireland, I needed to bat in that way and I was able to do that, while in the Asia Cup I scored runs on a difficult wicket and I could adapt and score runs, while against Afghanistan where I scored the hundred, it was a flat wicket and I could bat as per the demand of the wicket,” Najmul Hossain Shanto stated.

“When I played against England in T20Is and ODIs, the wicket was different in each game and so I feel that I have the experience of 10 to 12 matches where I played both on good and bad wickets so I am quite clear on how to adapt to it like how I should bat on a different wicket after assessing what kind of wicket is that and how many runs it is going to produce.”

“So I don’t think it will be very difficult for me but like what I have said how I bat on that specific day will matter the most. I think the way I am moving it is going to be a good tournament,” said Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Najmul Hossain Shanto Talks About The Noise In The World Cup

There will be a lot of noise in the World Cup both outside and inside the dressing room which is normal during such a high-intensity tournament. Najmul Hossain Shanto said that the noise will not bother him as he is there to fulfill his duty and contribute towards the team’s purpose.

“The noise does not matter to me whether someone is saying good or bad, what matters is the fact whether I am fulfilling my duty and contributing towards the team’s purpose. So what I feel is that at that point (when there will be noise) you just have faith in your skill and execute your plan in the middle of every game and that too on a ball-by-ball basis. The main challenge for me is how I can execute my plan, keeping everything aside,” added Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Bangladesh will kick off their World Cup campaign against Afghanistan on 7th October in Dharamshala. They won their first warm-up game beating Sri Lanka by seven wickets and now they will play the defending champions England in their second warm-up game.
