I Am Not Worried After Ravindra Jadeja: Sunil Gavaskar's Stunning Verdict On Indian All Rounder
With just a few days left for India’s first game in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, the Indian team might be concerned about a few things. One of these concerns is Ravindra Jadeja’s batting form in ODIs. Ravindra Jadeja shushed his critics when in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup semi-final he played a gem of an innings against New Zealand. He scored 77 off 59 deliveries in that match and kept the hopes alive for the Indian fans.
Recently, Jadeja’s ODI numbers have declined in terms of batting. Since his return from the surgery, Jadeja has batted in 12 innings and has managed to score only 189 runs with an average of 27 and a strike rate of just 64.29. Ravindra Jadeja’s last half-century in this format was back in 2020 when he scored 66 off 50 deliveries, and in Indian conditions, his last 50 was back in 2013 when Rohit Sharma hadn’t made his test debut, Sachin Tendulkar was yet to retire and Virat Kohli still had those chubby cheeks.
Ravindra Jadeja has been one of the players who always performs well in crunch situations but with his current form, it looks like he will be a liability to the team’s lower order in terms of batting. However, former India cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar, feels differently about this. Sunil Gavaskar thinks that Ravindra Jadeja is the kind of player who can contribute towards the team’s success without his individual performance. He pointed out some things about Jadeja which is overlooked by many.
Ravindra Jadeja Is A Top Player And A Rockstar
“The important thing is that he is such a fast runner between the wickets. Often, we overlook it… the fact that from the non-striker end, he helps the batter covert ones into twos. So, I think those are the little things that are important. So yeah, I am not worried after Ravindra Jadeja at all. He is a top player, a wonderful player… rockstar, like Shane Warne once said,” the legendary former India batter Sunil Gavaskar said about Ravindra Jadeja.
India will start their World Cup campaign against Australia on 8th October in Chennai. Ravindra Jadeja has been impressive with the ball and in the field, it is only the bat that is not taking its right course for Jadeja and hopefully, he will change it in the World Cup. After all, Ravindra Jadeja is one of the best clutch players in cricket and he can perform when the team needs him the most.
