Netherlands have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023. Scott Edwards will lead the Netherlands in their first World Cup since they participated in the marquee event back in 2011. Incidentally, that edition of the World Cup was also held in the subcontinent.

Netherlands have recalled veteran duo Roelof van der Merwe and Colin Ackermann for the World Cup. Van der Merwe and Ackermann were not a part of the Netherlands squad that participated in the World Cup qualifier earlier this week and made it to the final to seal their spot in the main event.

A tournament like the World Cup needs the teams to have experience in their rank and Netherlands are bound to get it from the presence of van der Merwe and Ackermann. Both the players were part of the Netherlands’ squad during the T20 World Cup last year and made their presence felt.

Ackermann finished the tournament as his team’s second highest run-scorer while van der Merwe came up with important cameos with the bat, ball as well as in the field. Having played in domestic competitions in several countries, both the players will be looking to make the most of their experience in the upcoming World Cup.

Netherlands will be looking to do well in the upcoming 10-team competition. Before the main event, they will play two warm-up fixtures – against Australia on September 30 and hosts India on October 3. They will open their campaign against Pakistan in Hyderabad on October 6.
