MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi talked about Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023. He said that they will be treated just like any other team participating in the event.
Pakistan’s participation in the ICC World Cup 2023 was one of the most talked about things of late. There were a lot of concerns if the team will take part in the tournament, especially after India denied travelling to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, citing security issues.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made a high-profile committee that addressed issues related to the team’s participation in the ICC World Cup 2023. But they gave a green signal to the team and made clear that the Babar Azam-led side will be travelling to India for the tournament.
Pakistan Government will now be sending a security delegation to India to inspect the venues before sending the team to the neighbouring country. The Men in Green will be playing their matches in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata whereas their clash against India will be played in Ahmedabad.
The security delegation is likely to inspect these venues and only after their report final decision will be taken. Notably, the Pakistani government sent a similar sort of security delegation to India ahead of the 2016 T20 World Cup.
MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi talked about Pakistan’s participation in the event and said that they will be providing necessary security not only to them but to all the other teams as well.
Speaking to reporters, he explained: “We have seen these reports regarding the Pakistan cricket team’s participation in the upcoming ICC World Cup to be hosted by India. Pakistan cricket team will be treated just like the cricket team of any other country participating in the ICC World Cup. We will be providing necessarily security not only to them but also all the other participatory teams in the tournament.”
