In yet another blow to Pakistan cricket ahead of the all-important ICC World Cup 2023, their former captain Mohammad Hafeez has stepped down from the position in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Cricket Technical Committee (CTC).

Mohammad Hafeez was serving as an honorary member of the committee that also includes his former teammates and captains Inzamam-ul-Haq and Misbah-ul-Haq. According to reports, the trio directly reported to PCB chief Zaka Ashraf and gave inputs for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.

But on Thursday (September 21), Mohammad Hafeez decided to bring an end to his association with the committee. The former allrounder took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce his decision. Extending his gratitude to the PCB chief and extending his best wishes to Pakistan cricket, Mohammad Hafeez wrote:

???I decided to leave Pakistan cricket technical committee. I served as honorary member. I would like to thank Zaka Ashraf sb for giving me this opportunity. I m always available whenever Zaka Ashraf sb need my honest suggestions for Pakistan cricket. My best wishes for Pakistan cricket as always.???

Mohammad Hafeez???s decision raises eyebrows:

Mohammad Hafeez???s decision to leave the PCB technical committee has taken many by surprise. The former cricketer ended his association with the committee just under two months after being named as a part of it. The timing of the decision has also raised a number of eyebrows.

The resignation came just before PCB was due to announce the squad for the World Cup. On Wednesday (September 20), Mohammad Hafeez attended the meeting chaired by Zaka Ashraf to review the Pakistan Men???s cricket team???s performance in the ACC Asia Cup 2023. Pakistan captain Babar Azam, vice-captain Shadab Khan, and the coaching staff also attended the meeting.

But just hours after the meeting concluded, Mohammad Hafeez publicly announced his resignation. The latest episode has put the spotlight on Pakistan cricket for all the wrong reasons once again. Recently reports emerged that not all was well within the Pakistani dressing room after the Asia Cup 2023 exit. As per reports, Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi were involved in a furious verbal altercation before being separated.

Another report also stated that chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq had threatened to resign twice from his post in the last few days. PCB will be hoping to put an end to all the controversies and focus solely on the World Cup. The World Cup is scheduled to be played from October 5 in India.
