Former Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara and former New Zealand player Simon Doull picked their best-ever World Cup XI during a conversation on Sky Sports. However, both did not pick Indian stars like Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli in their team. Moreover, former Indian skipper MS Dhoni was also overlooked in the list.
Only one Indian player managed to get a place in their team and it was Sachin Tendulkar. For the wicketkeeper, they went ahead with former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist. Hence, MS Dhoni lost his place to Gilchrist on the list.

In the middle-order, Sangakkara and Doull went ahead with legends like Ricky Ponting, Viv Richards, Aravinda de Silva, and Clive Lloyd. They picked two former Pakistan players on their team. They picked Imran Khan for the No. 7 spot and Wasim Akram as one of the pacers.
While picking Imran Khan for no.7 spot, Kumar Sangakkara said, “At number 7, you need a consistent performer over a series of World Cups. It’s difficult to look beyond Imran Khan. Throughout his career, being a spearhead and the innings he played to change games including that 92 World Cup, so we will have to go with Khan.”
He also voiced his support for Wasim Akram as the left-arm pacer in the
team. “I think his [Wasim Akram] ability to change pace, bowl with the new ball and swing it and seam it and then coming back to through the middle and at the end we saw in the 92 World Cup” Sangakkara said.
