Not Shreyas Iyer Or Ishan Kishan!! Yuvraj Singh Picks This Indian Star To Bat At Number 4 In ICC World Cup 2023

KL Rahul has been in terrific form since making a comeback in the Asia Cup 2023 after his thigh injury. Rahul announced his comeback by scoring a century against Pakistan in the Super 4s match of the Asia Cup. He has somewhat solved the No.4 dilemma right before the World Cup and it looks like he will be the No.4 for India in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Former India all-rounder and Player of the Tournament in the 2011 World Cup Yuvraj Singh has expressed his opinion on India’s Number 4 issue and he has asked the team management to stick with KL Rahul at No.4. He has been highly impressed by KL Rahul’s comeback and the way he batted in that position. India has tried a lot of batters to bat at No.4 but there was some instability with that position.

Yuvraj Singh, who himself has batted at Number 4 for India many times said, “India want K.L. Rahul to bat at No. 4 now. They have to give him 15-20 games in that position. In the Asia Cup, coming back from injury, he scored a 100. On a spinning track [in Colombo, against Sri Lanka] he scored a vital 39 runs. He is looking good right now, so they need to stick with him at N0. 4.”

Yuvraj Singh Explains Why He Wants KL Rahul At No.4

“No. 4 is a crucial position, especially if the openers get out cheaply. No. 4 batsman needs to have the technique to leave the ball, play the short ball well, and try and create partnerships,” said Yuvraj.

KL Rahul also has a lot of experience coming into this World Cup. He is flexible with his batting and can bat anywhere in the middle order as well as the top order. Yuvraj Singh also said that guys who don’t have much experience cannot be trusted in a marquee event such as the World Cup and KL Rahul has just the right amount of experience.

However, KL Rahul might bat at number 5 in the World Cup given that Shreyas Iyer is back in form and is getting runs. Someone between Shreyas and Ishan will have to sit on the bench because KL Rahul has been in really good touch and he deserves a place in India’s playing XI in the World Cup.
