Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has finally broken the silence on why he doesn’t bowl anymore ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023. The opening batter said that he has problems with the fingers and doesn’t want to affect his batting with that.

When Rohit Sharma entered into the scenes of the Indian Cricket, he was seen as a talented batter alongside a handy spinner. The Indian captain chipped in with wickets as well and he even had a hat-trick in the IPL, which speaks volumes about his bowling.

With India in dire need of batters who can bowl, Rohit Sharma’s name has popped up quite a few times. There have been various talks about why the captain doesn’t bowl despite him being the handy bowler. The last time he bowled in an ODI game was in 2016 and he has bowled in just four ODI games from 2012.

Rohit Sharma revealed that his fingers don’t feel good when he bowls. However, he didn’t completely rule out him bowling. He added that he’s bowling in the nets and will see how things will go. Speaking to journalist Vimal Kumar, he explained:

“I have problems with my finger while bowling. I don’t want my batting affected because of it. I am bowling in the nets, and let’s see.”

Rohit Sharma so far has taken 11 wickets in international cricket in his career (2 Tests, 8 ODIs, and 1 T20). He also took 15 wickets in the IPL.

We have achieved quite a bit with regard to preparations – Rohit Sharma ahead of ICC World Cup 2023

Rohit Sharma recently admitted that the Asia Cup 2023 and the series against Australia helped them to achieve things with regard to preparations. He added that they are focused on winning the World Cup and playing good cricket. Speaking to Jio Cinema, he explained:

“We have challenged our team by putting it in difficult situations during the Asia Cup and Australia ODIs. We have achieved quite a bit with regard to preparations.  There is a bigger goal and picture in mind. Focusing on that will be crucial at the moment, not the whitewash. As players, we want to play good cricket.”

Rohit Sharma has been in decent form of late. He had a staggering outing in Asia Cup 2023 and then slammed a vital half-century in the only game he played against Australia.
