Sridharan Sriram, Bangladesh’s technical consultant, claims that despite losing all four games in the tri-series in New Zealand, Bangladesh learned a lot from the experience. The most important finding was that they had tried and tested the various pairings they might implement during the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.
In their seven-wicket loss to Pakistan on Thursday, Bangladesh’s batsmen gave their best performance of the tri-series, but the bowlers fell short when the game was on the line.

Bangladesh has used 16 different opening pairs in 43 games since Tamim Iqbal retired from international T20 cricket. In the tri-series, Bangladesh started Mehedy Hasan and Sabbir Rahman in place of their regular opener Nazmul Hossain against Pakistan and Mehedy and Sabbir against New Zealand, respectively.
In the following match against New Zealand, Bangladesh taken back Liton Das from position three to open the innings with Nazmul while putting Soumya Sarkar in position three and Shakib at position four, where he excelled with a half-century.

In their most recent match against Pakistan, Bangladesh chose to open with Nazmul and Soumya Sarkar, dropping Liton down to #3 once more, where he scored 69, while Shakib stayed at two-drop, where he added another fifty.
We are very clear about the best team: Sridharan Sriram
Technical consultant for Bangladesh Sridharan Sriram insisted that he is not overly concerned about the risks associated with experimentation and said that the main think tank is certain of the combination they would test.
“I think we are very clear about the best team we want to play so the captain, myself and the director are all on the same page. We’re quite clear as to what combinations we want, “I think we have got two-three combinations in mind and given the conditions we face on the day we might modify and adapt accordingly,” Sridharan Sriram told reporters on Thursday.

“You look at it as experiments but we look at it as different combinations. You learn about your players when you put them in different situations and learn how each of them responds. I think we have learned quite a bit. We’re very clear about the combinations we go with against different teams,” Sridharan Sriram said.
Bangladesh is currently on their way to Brisbane, where they will face Afghanistan and South Africa in practice matches on October 17 and October 19, respectively, before taking on a qualifying team on October 24 in Hobart for its inaugural Super 12 match.
